User guideIII. Analyze & compare

Spectrum and bit fields

Show a channel's frequency content, or split a digital status word into its individual bits.

Where to find it

  • + (Add panel) → Spectrum
  • + (Add panel) → Bit field
Spectrum: sample points, window and frequency
Spectrum: sample points, window and frequency

Steps

  1. Choose the channel and scope

Add either panel and choose Analysis channels, an optional Condition and the Scope: Entire recording, Current selection (the reference lap in a comparison) or a lap, plus a Region.

  2. Set up the spectrum

Choose Sample points (32–8192, default 4096), Window function (Hann or Rectangular) and Detrend (Remove mean, Remove linear trend or Keep DC). The plot shows peak amplitude against frequency.

  3. Read a frequency

Hover the plot, or use ←/→, to select a frequency. The readout shows its amplitude, the time span and point count, the sample rate and the resolution; CSV and JSON export the result.

  4. Pick the bits

In Bit field, open Select bits and tick Bits 0–31 (0–7 by default). Give each bit a name and a color.

  5. Follow the state

Follow cursor (on by default) shows the word at the cursor; or enter Source time · s and click Go to. State changes lists each change with the bits before and after.

Good to know

  • Continuous, even data

A spectrum needs a continuous, evenly sampled time range; separate laps are not joined into one signal.

  • How bits are read

The channel is decoded as an unsigned 32-bit word. Names and colors change the display only, never the source channel.

  • Side by side

Place a spectrum or bit field next to telemetry plots to compare the same moment.

  • Lattiro Assistant · Beta (invite only)

In the beta, the assistant can add these panels and set the spectrum parameters.
