Formulas and vehicle calculations
Create new channels from recorded channels or saved calculations, for use in plots, tables and marks.
Where to find it
- Navigation → Calculations → + New → Formula
Steps
- 1
Open Calculations
Click Calculations in the navigation. The panel opens on Current recording; Search all calculations looks through this recording, My library and Built-in calculations at once.
- 2
Pick a starting point
Click + New and choose Formula. Built-ins are grouped into General calculations, Signal processing, Vehicle calculations and External scripts; Custom formula starts from scratch.
- 3
Write the formula
Enter a Name and an Output unit. Choose a channel for the first input, a; + Add input adds x1, x2 and so on (up to 16), and you can rename them. Then type the Formula with those variable names, for example a * 2. Formula help lists every function.
- 4
Check the preview
Once the inputs are complete, the preview runs by itself and draws a dashed line on the plots. Result shows the mean, valid samples and a lap summary; the footer reads Previewed · not saved.
- 5
Save and show it
Click Save, or Save & add to plot. Show in… → Map and plot marks or Lap table saves the formula and shows it there.
Good to know
Vehicle calculations
GPS motion, Suspension motion, Tyres & wheel speed, Loads & friction, Lean angle and IMU mounting & attitude create groups of engineering channels. Fill in Inputs & parameters and the Channel prefix, click Preview, then save the channels.
Edit, reuse or delete
Pick a calculation under Calculations in this recording to edit it; its supporting channels expand underneath. More actions offers Save to my calculation library, Across recordings… and Delete. If other calculations use it, remove those references first.
Use it in other recordings
Across recordings… binds a saved formula's inputs in up to 8 recordings and compares the results with Input bindings, Distribution and Relationship plot.
Reference record parameters
Reference record parameters adds values from the vehicle setup as p1, p2…. Numeric parameters go straight into the formula; curve parameters use LOOKUP(p1, a).
Limits
A recording can store up to 64 calculated channels, and a formula can be up to 4096 characters long.
Lattiro Assistant · Beta (invite only)
In the beta, formulas proposed by the assistant open in this editor for review before you save them.
