User guideIII. Analyze & compare

Analysis range and panel ranges

Choose the entire recording, one lap or up to 16 laps, then narrow to a sector, corner or straight. Panels follow this range unless you give them their own.

Where to find it

  • Context bar → range button (Entire recording ▾, or Scope ▾ once laps are chosen)
  • Region
  • Time / Position

Steps

  1. Open the range

Click the range button in the context bar: Entire recording ▾, or Scope ▾ when laps are already chosen. A recording with two or more valid laps opens with its two fastest already compared. Range shortcuts offers Entire recording, Fastest valid lap and Restore previous range; opening the list changes nothing.

  2. Pick laps

Click laps in the list to add them; the list stays open. The first lap is the Reference, the second the Comparison and the rest Overlay, up to 16 laps. Invalid laps, such as an out lap, an in lap, an incomplete lap or one with a GPS gap, cannot be picked.

  3. Change or remove a lap

Click a lap chip to replace that lap, or × to remove it. + Comparison and + Overlay add the next lap. Chips use the same colors as the traces.

  4. Choose a region

Under Region, pick Full lap, a sector (S1…), a corner or a straight (ST1…). For a corner, Extend statistics range adds up to 30 s Before entry and After exit; Fit selected range zooms to it.

  5. Set the x-axis

Choose Time or Position in the context bar. One lap can use either; a lap comparison aligns by Position; the entire recording uses Time. Position needs a lap distance: on an AiM XRK recording without calibration, laps have one only when a usable GPS source covers every lap.

  6. Give a panel its own range

The badge in a panel header shows what it displays. Click it: telemetry plots can tick up to 16 laps and Apply to this panel, or One panel per lap; other panels can Pin current global range. Follow global selection links the panel again.

Good to know

  • Other recordings of the same track

Once the track is calibrated, the list groups same-track laps by recording, with lap and sector times, riders and best-lap marks. Chips from other recordings show a date, such as 10-12 L5. Without calibration, only this recording's laps are listed; an AiM XRK recording can list the laps its logger timed, without the out lap and in lap. Calibrating replaces them with laps cut at the calibrated start/finish line.

  • Riders

With two or more riders, Filter by rider narrows the list and chips read L5 · name. Changeover laps are excluded from riders' best laps.

  • Entire recording

The entire recording is the continuous source time, including pit entry, pit exit and incomplete laps. It is not an overlay of all valid laps.

  • Panels with their own controls

The track map always follows the global range. Lap tables choose their range with their own controls. See Lap tables: ranges, metrics and display.

  • Keyboard

With a single lap and focus in a telemetry plot, [ and ] switch to the previous or next lap.

  • Across recordings

Interval highlighting, math channels and condition filters are not available for laps from other recordings yet.
