Knowledge vaults and notes

Keep notes, references and lasting knowledge in local vaults, link them to each other and to telemetry, and export them as Markdown.

Where to find it

  • Navigation → Knowledge vaults (notebook icon)
  • notebook icon at the top right of Start center

Steps

  1. Create a vault

Open Knowledge vaults and click New vault. Enter a Vault name and click Create vault. Vault settings renames it later.

  2. Add notes

Click New note, or + (New child note) on a note to place a note under it. A note with children works as a category; New category starts one directly. Set the Title, Type (note, reference or memory) and Tags.

  3. Write in Markdown

Write the body in Markdown and switch between Edit and Preview. Click Save or press ⌘/Ctrl+S.

  4. Link notes and telemetry

Under Links and telemetry, Link an entry connects notes, and Referenced by shows the backlinks. Inside a workspace, Add current selection saves the recording, laps and visible time range as a telemetry reference; Locate in telemetry jumps back to it.

  5. Organize and restore

Change the Parent note to move a note. Version history keeps up to 20 versions per note: pick a Saved version and click Restore this version. Archive entry hides a note; Restore entry brings it back.

  6. Export or import

Export library writes the selected vault to a new folder as Markdown files, with a manifest.json you can import again. Import library reads .md files or a Lattiro manifest.

Good to know

  • Stored on this computer

Vaults are saved on this computer (Stored locally) and are fully usable on their own. Cloud sync is not available.

  • Search and filters

Search titles, text or tags, and filter by All, Notes, References, Memories or Archive.

  • Nothing is deleted

Notes and vaults can be archived but not deleted.

  • Notes from earlier versions

Notes created before vaults existed appear under Unfiled notes and keep their existing permissions.

  • Lattiro Assistant · Beta (invite only)

In the beta, the assistant opens beside the notebook and can create, organize, move and link notes, and save computed results as Saved results. Allow assistant to read and organize (per vault) and Private note (in Note settings) control what it may read; Ask about this note starts a conversation about the open note.
